Wedge Curatorial Projects’ founding director, Dr. Kenneth Montague, is committed to the sharing and exhibiting of photographic works by local and international artists centering Black identity, representation, and culture.
I worked with the Wedge team to create a web experience celebrating 25 years of Wedge Curatorial projects. The horizontal scroll website is a timeline that flows through different eras of the project, featuring archival photos and printed ephemera.
The website is a horizontal scrolling experience that takes the user through a 25-year timeline. A gradient spectrum was utilized to indicate the different Wedge eras.
The timeline consists of a huge archive of scanned posters, brochures, and photos with varying information and credits. Each piece of ephemera has a function where the user can hover to read credits and more information.
Through the years, Dr. Montague would put together playlists for gallery show openings. Referencing the classic CD jewel case to highlight the tracks added a fun and ephemeral interaction to the timeline.
As the user explores the timeline, archival pieces float in and appear in dynamic ways.
The timeline converts to a vertical scroll on mobile.
I’ve been posting a new design every day since 2018! Explore the project on instagram.
