In June, my sister and I took our dad on a belated birthday trip. Two years ago he turned 60 and our gift to him was to take him on a trip anywhere he wanted to go. It took awhile to plan, but he ended up chosing Scotland. We went for a week, rented the car and explored the highlands. We started off in Glasgow, drove through the highlands to Inverness and ended up in Edinburgh.
Along the way to Inverness, we did many pit stops including doing a boat tour on Loch Lochmond and stoppig on the side of the A82 to see literal bagpipers perform in the highlands. We also came across a border collie herding competition and saw a ton of cute highland cows. It kind of felt like whatever Scottish sterotype we imagined of the highlands kind of happend.

We also drove to Isle of Sky, but our first attempt resulted in a flat back tire and a bent front wheel. It's too long of a story to write out, but even though it was kind of a disaster of a day, it's the most memorable part of the trip for me (in a good way!). We were able to go to Isle of Skye the next day, the weather wasn't exactly cooperative so we didn't see as much as we would have liked to.

We only had a day and a half in Edinburgh but was a very impressive city in the way that you literally felt the history in all crevices of the city. I would like to go back again for a few more days just to explore a bit. I think I know where my morbidness comes from, because when we were told that there is a Surgeons' Hall Museum, all three of us looked at each other and hauled ass to get there before it closed.

Looking forward to going back sometime in the future, there's a few haunted tours I missed out on!
