Japan on Film

In September my sister and I finally went on our trip to Tokyo. For context, we were initially suppoused to go April 202, but of course the pandemic halted that plan. For the past 5 years we tried to re-book a few times but various life things kept getting in the way, so I was determined that this year would be the year. We were only able to go to Tokyo for a week, but we still had an incredible time. We both came back and have already started talking about what we want to do the next time we go.

On this trip I used 3 different films (not planned) so it was cool to get these prints back to see the different ways the film interpreted the trip. This group of photos was taken using regular ol' Fujifilm 400 and they were taken in the Shinjuku National Garden (which was such a nice oasis in the middle of super busy Shinjuku), Team Lab Planets and a traditional tea and sweets ceremony in Asakusa (I think my favourite area so far).

The next film roll was Harman Phoenix 200. I never used it before. The photos that did turn out have a lot of contrast and drama which I really like, but I also had a lot of duds unfortunately. If I didn't say this before, I am absolutely not a pro film photographer, so I think that someone with more experience and nuance would be better equipped to use film like this! Shots are from Asakusa, Senso-ji temple, Peace Torii, Owakudani, Oshino Hakkai Park, Lake Yamanaka and Shibuya.

The final roll I used was the Lomochrome Color 92 Sun-Kissed film. This one has a warmed faded look and I enjoyed the results. Shots are from Shinjuku, Gōtokuji Temple, Shimokitazawa, Shibuya, Kappabashi Street, Asakusa (again lol).
