Today is such a nice day! And its St. Patrick’s Day too. A bunch of us went to get some drinks, but all the bars were full so we went to a mexican place for margaritas, which is decidedly not Irish in anyway, but we still had fun. I hope the weather stays this nice because it makes me and everyone way happier.

I’ve posted new illustrations that I have done for my classes this semester. I’m also going to add a design category because I think that my graphic design pieces are equally strong. I originally was going to do a whole separate site for them, but it doesn’t really make sense to do that.

Recently I’ve been listening to this crazy South African group called Die Antwoord. I don’t know if they’re putting on an act, or if they really are the way they are, but its awesome I hope they come to Toronto sometime soon. Here’s Wat Pomp ft. Jack Parrow:

Last Thursday I went on a adventure in Toronto with my two friends and picked up these. “In the the Flesh” is a graphic novel illustrated by Koren Shadmi. I highly recommend this if you enjoy great illustrations and quirky & creepy stories. Next time I’m going to pick up Adrian Tomine’s “32 Stories”. I also finally bought M83′s “Saturdays=Youth” (yes I still buy cd’s) for only $5 at Urban Outfitters (the irony and hipster lifestyle in that place is painful but I like their quilts).

We also hit up the Zine Library. It’s actually quite a shame because there are so many cool zines from all over the world, but the location is less than pleasant. I’m wondering if it would be possible to organize a few people and the give the place a face lift. There were mysterious stains everywhere and the the furniture seemed like an army of cockroaches will explode at any moment from the inside. I think a paint job and maybe some furniture donations would really make the place a lot nicer. Found some great inspirations though, and speaking of, my two friends Myra and Jeannie have started there own tiny zines and they are so unbelievably cute I have to share them with you:

Jeannie only has one so far called Roleplay and Myra is like a zine-machine. We’re all hoping to get a table at this year’s Canzine. I haven’t started on mine yet but my plan is to start this weekend. I’m either going to start with a quarter page or in the mini format. We’ll see.

Today I’m re-branding a logo, so that’s been eating up a lot of my time. I also have a few blank canvases that I bought a million years ago. I don’t know why I buy them, I prefer painting on wood or masonite. I think I like the idea of canvas more than I actually like using it. They’re yelling at me to put something on them though and I feel like I must oblige.

A couple days ago I heard that there is actually a Whole Foods in Toronto, so I decided to check it out after class. My friends have been telling me that its awesome and that I would like it. So I went to Yorkville a very trendy and upscale neighborhood in T.O (I should’ve known…)

The whole place had such a snobby atmosphere. Even looking at the clientele, you could tell that they were incredibly wealthy people. The whole place was such a disappointment for me. The bread was mediocre (Starsky or any other small Polish bakery have way better breads), the cheeses were nothing compared to the amazing Cheese Store in Kensington. The healthy/organic foods I can easily now buy at a regular grocery store for waaay cheaper. The fruits and vegetables were fine but there’s a farmer’s market every weekend near where I live.

I did get orange tomatoes though.

I’m excited for Thursday because I’m finally going to the Toronto Zine Library!

P.S I got all my classes (except for Gary Taxali’s which I’m really bummed about) and I gave back that camera I bought.
